Copyright Clearance Center, a licensing agent for text reproduction rights, has announced that seven scientific, technical, and medical (STM) publishers have chosen Rightslink, its point-of-content licensing solution. The STM publishers include Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, Marcel Dekker, Inc., Issues in Science & Technology, SAGE Publications, IEEE, The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, and Scientific Societies.

Copyright Clearance Center's Rightslink is currently used by business, industry-specific publications, and daily newspapers, such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post and all Knight-Ridder newspapers. Working with each publisher, the company designs a custom Rightslink implementation, using workflow automation tools to blend the components. This automation frees rights and permissions staff across publishing divisions and departments to focus on licensing revenues, and offers information on customer usage preferences.

Copyright Clearance Center is also announcing the availability of Rightslink PDF Stamper. The new functionality creates a persistent licensing link within articles, enabling readers to order reprints and permissions directly at the point of content.
