Aug 16, 2012

Cloud computing company,, announced the company will be expanding its lineup of social networking and collaboration services with a new service called Communities. The company says this new service will allow businesses to connect employees, customers, and partners in a single space. Salesforce has a networking program, Chatter, which connects businesses to employees but the company saw the need to expand that reach to include customers and other businesses to create a virtual enterprise.

Currently, Communities is in a pilot stage but is scheduling general availability in mid-2013. A demo of Communities will be shown at the Dreamforce conference in San Francisco in September. The company did not release pricing plans for Salesforce Communities.
