IHS Inc. and SAE International have announced an agreement to provide improved access to SAE Historical Standards. The Engineering division of IHS will become the exclusive distributor of SAE Historical Aerospace Standards and SAE Historical Ground Vehicle Standards via online or DVD subscriptions--available immediately for the first time in electronic format.

The SAE Historical Standards subscription from IHS is continually updated as revised standards are issued and includes 8,000 SAE standards and material specifications spanning the 1940s to the present. The SAE Historical Standards databases covering Aerospace and Ground Vehicle applications include all cancelled and prior revisions of current documents, and are designed to offer: advanced search capabilities with clear search results; bibliographic information with links to full-text PDFs of historical standards; online access to all historical standards; the ability to find the standard in effect at the time a part, component, system, or vehicle was designed; the ability to determine how new standards relate to previous design versions; and links to related standards and documents from one location. IHS solutions are available via Internet, extranet, intranet, DVD & CD-ROM, subscription and custom collections, and single-document delivery.
