Report: Enterprise Social Media Use Still Developing

May 25, 2010

Two-thirds of companies have some sort of social media presence, up from 11% in 2007, according to a report from software security company Clearswift. The report is based on a survey, conducted in January and February 2010, of 1,629 managers and employees in the U.K., the U.S., Germany, and Australia.

According to the report, 28% of respondents are asked to keep up a social media presence for work purposes, but security is popping up as a constant concern. Despite 60% of managers in the survey indicating that they trusted their employees, a quarter of those employees reported sending something via social media that they later regretted, and 61% of employers report security as their main concern.
