Quark and Microsoft debuted a new collaboration solution targeted at editors, graphic designers, and layout designers in the field of multimedia journalism. Combining the workflow and communication aspects of Microsoft's SharePoint server with the publishing and design capabilities of Quark DPS and XML Author, the joint offering consolidates the collaboration and design aspects of the editorial process, allowing users to keep track of personal RSS feeds, share story ideas, author XML content, and allocate resources all within the same package.
In other news, Quark released a series of XML updates for its Quark DPS platform. These updates, which focus on the Quark Publishing System component of DPS, will allow users to automate routine publishing tasks and increase XML support throughout the entire publishing process. Also included is integration with the Altova MapForce mapping and conversion tool.
