PsycARTICLES Historical Content Debuts on APA PsycNET

Jun 30, 2006

The American Psychological Association's historical collection of full-text APA journal articles from 1894-1984 is live on APA PsycNET. The collection of nearly 73,000 articles was also released in March to CSA, EBSCO, Hogrefe Publishing Group, OCLC, Ovid, ProQuest, and ScienceDirect. Each of the full-text records in PsycARTICLES also has a corresponding abstract in PsycINFO, complete with cited references.

Approximately 15,000 new records have been added to PsycINFO, and cited references were added to more than 74,000 existing records. The historical collection will be provided to all new and existing PsycARTICLES license sites as vendors load the database. APA is providing this additional content at no additional data fee beyond the current annual site license rates for PsycARTICLES.

The company has also announced that Psychological Abstracts will cease publication in print, after 80 years of publication. APA based this decision on the small number of remaining print subscriptions following years of subscriber migration to APA's PsycINFO database. The final issue, Vol. 93, No. 12, will be published in December 2006. Many of the remaining print subscribers already have site licenses to the PsycINFO database, and APA is already working on the conversion process for those customers who do not.
