ProQuest has added PapersInvited to complete the suite of COS Research Support Services available on the CSA Illumina platform. Introduced in 2006, COS Research Support Services combines the COS Scholar Universe, COS Funding Opportunities, and PapersInvited services on the CSA Illumina platform, supporting academic and scientific research across all disciplines. COS Research Support Services puts researchers in touch with money, scholars, and experts, and calls for papers and other publishing opportunities. CSA Illumina is a research platform, which provides access to more than 100 full-text and bibliographic databases in the arts and humanities; natural sciences, social sciences, and technology and engineering.
COS Scholar Universe is a searchable, editorially-controlled database of more than 1.3 million published scholars in more than 200 disciplines and 9 countries. With COS Scholar Universe, faculty, and students are directly connected to the community of scholarly research. COS Funding Opportunities is a research funding resource, with more than 24,000 records representing nearly 400,000 opportunities, worth more than $33 billion. COS Funding Opportunities will continue to be available on the COS.com platform, where it has tools and features for research administration and advanced-level funding seekers. PapersInvited is the latest addition to the COS Research Support Services on CSA Illumina. PapersInvited is a multi-disciplinary alerting service for calls for papers for upcoming conferences and special issues of scholarly journals. It is designed for researchers--primarily graduates and faculty, as well as those in corporations and government agencies.
ProQuest has also announced its expansion of Periodicals Index Online (PIO), an index for periodicals in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. The content update to PIO has added indexing for 176 titles, bringing the total to 5,255 titles from 1665 to 1995. Customers can search over 16 million articles in 40 languages and dialects. PIO is designed to index scholarly journals, as well as primary source periodicals, with 200 journals added each year. It is an aid to locate articles in a library's print, microform, or digital collections. PIO features include: quick search; post-search sorting and filtering; the ability to browse capability by title, subject, or language, and advanced search capabilities.
