PhatWare Corporation, a provider of software products and professional services for mobile and desktop computers, has announced support for Microsoft's Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition software for Smartphones and Pocket PCs. Among the PhatWare applications supporting Windows Mobile software for Pocket PCs and Smartphones are Calligrapher 7.2, the latest version of PhatWare's handwriting recognition solution. CalliGrapher uses fuzzy logic and neural net techniques to recognize handwriting styles, including cursive, print, or mixed-written, then converts the characters into digital text for use in other applications. Version 7.2 enables users to launch PenCommander, the company's PC navigation tool, by assigning the command to any hardware button on the Pocket PC. PhatNotes (formerly HPC Notes) 4.5, PhatWare's notes organization tool for Pocket PCs and desktop PCs, allows users to create and organize notes by type, subject, creation date, or modification date, and includes other features such as the ability to send email messages from within the program. Other PhatWare products, including the PhatPad ink-based notes organizer and PhatSpell, a multi-lingual spell checking utility, are expected to soon support Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition as well.
