Ovid Technologies, a provider of content, tools, and services, has announced a new medical information research solution accessible through the Research and Reference Pane within the 2003 versions of Microsoft Office applications. Healthcare professionals working within a Microsoft Office application--including Microsoft Office Word 2003, Microsoft Office Outlook 2003, Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003, Microsoft Office Excel 2003, Microsoft Office Publisher 2003, Microsoft Office OneNote 2003, and Microsoft Office Visio 2003--now have direct access to more than 900 medical and health sciences journals available through the Journals@Ovid database. End-users can now select terms directly from their Microsoft Office documents and use the "look up" feature to launch a Journals@Ovid search session; content is integrated within a user's desktop environment to provide access to medical information. The clinician (or researcher) can select an article and view the entire full text, if their institution is an Ovid subscriber, or they can purchase the material through Ovid's PayPerView feature.
