Ovid Technologies, part of Wolters Kluwer Health and a global provider of electronic medical, scientific, and academic information research solutions, has announced that it will offer the Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW) Journal Legacy Archive exclusively on Journals@Ovid, a single-database aggregation of searchable peer-reviewed journals. The LWW Journal Legacy Archive will be available in the fourth quarter of 2006. Lippincott Williams & Wilkins is a sister company of Ovid's within Wolters Kluwer Health.

The LWW Journal Legacy Archive features more than 3 million pages of information--over 800,000 articles of original research, reviews, notes, letters, and case studies--from 220 journals in medical, clinical, and healthcare specialty areas, including nursing, cardiology, infectious disease, and surgery. Coverage for each journal begins with Volume 1, Issue 1 and runs through the final issue of 1999. A number of journals date from the 19th century; the American Journal of the Medical Sciences, the oldest in the collection, was first published in November of 1827. Key features of the Archive include: literature from Nobel Prize winners and other innovators; integration with Journals@Ovid; and PDF pages including text and images, such as photos, illustrations, and charts in gray scale.

In addition to the LWW Journal Legacy Archive, Ovid also offers electronic access to the LWW Total Access collection, which provides subscribers with current journal issue on an ongoing basis. Subscribers to both collections can receive the entire run of a particular journal, including the American Journal of the Medical Sciences, as well as Medical Care.
