Outside.in, a web service for sharing and exploring information about neighborhoods, announced a partnership with washingtonpost.com to provide an interactive "Buzz Map" for the website's local blog directory, a destination for the latest regional news, information, and opinions from local area bloggers. The "Buzz Map," created by Outside.in, provides a way for readers to visually identify the major issues and events being discussed in local area neighborhoods. Outside.in establishes the most buzzed about communities by monitoring the local blog activity through washingtonpost.com's directory and similar pages on www.outside.in.
Outside.in also recently closed a round of funding totaling $1.5 million. The funding will be used to develop the site's community features, expand its outreach to traditional media partners, and launch a geo-targeted advertising platform. This round of financing draws from the same group of investors who initially financed the company earlier this year: Union Square Ventures, Milestone Ventures, Village Ventures, George Crowley, John Seely Brown, Esther Dyson, Richard Smith, and John Borthwick.
