Outsell, Inc. released new research on mobile devices and their effects on the consumer magazine industry. The study involved 400 consumers who own a smartphone or e-reader and 200 consumer advertisers. Topics relevant to publishers in the process of migrating their content to a mobile device were discussed in the study. These included the types of magazine content consumed on mobile devices, the consumer's intention to buy more magazine apps, and the chances of marketers using mobile magazine platforms as vehicles for their ads.
Complete research data from Outsell's study will be released in November 2010. Initial findings from the study were presented at this year's American Magazine Conference, held on Oct. 3-5 in Chicago.
