The Gilbane Group, an analyst consulting firm focused on content technologies and based in Cambridge, Mass., is now part of Outsell, Inc., a research and advisory firm focused on the publishing and information industries. According to Outsell, the acquisition is part of its strategic plan to include deeper coverage of content software technology to better serve its markets of publishers & information providers and enterprise IM clients. The union of the two companies both firms is inteded to provide an opportunity to deliver more complete solutions. Frank Gilbane, founder, President, and CEO of The Gilbane Group, will continue on as President of The Gilbane Group, a division of Outsell, Inc., and members of his team will be an integral part of the company. The Gilbane Group will remain in Cambridge, MA. With Gilbane, Outsell will now have a professional staff of 50 worldwide, in addition to nearly two dozen affiliate analysts and consultants.
This is the third transaction that Outsell has completed since its 1998 founding. In 2006, Outsell acquired EPS (Electronic Publishing Services Ltd) of London, broadening its global coverage. In 2008, the firm also acquired the Business Research Division of Eduventures to strengthen its coverage of educational content and technology providers.
