Open Text and Oracle Extend CM Partnership; Launches Customer Information Management Solution; Enhances Internal Controls Solution

Nov 17, 2006

Open Text, an independent provider of enterprise content management software, and Oracle have announced that Open Text is creating an Oracle Solutions Group and developing a suite of solutions based on Oracle Database and Oracle Fusion Middleware. This further extends the partnership between Oracle and Open Text announced earlier this year with the introduction of Oracle Content Database. Open Text plans to offer customers complete enterprise content management solutions that include licenses for Open Text Livelink ECM software along with Oracle Content Database, Oracle Fusion Middleware, and Oracle BPEL Process Manager. The integrated solutions will also work with Oracle applications including Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle's PeopleSoft and JD Edwards.

Open Text Corporation has also announced a new solution that captures and manages customer information from multiple systems and makes it available to users in Microsoft Office 2003. The new solution is designed specifically for processes within sales, support, customer service, and logistics. Regardless of the original application or storage location, Livelink ECM--Customer Information Management is designed to help companies consolidate all customer-related content and processes in individual customer folders, which are then made available within user environments such as Microsoft Office 2003, including Microsoft Office Outlook 2003. The solution is the first in a series of solutions to use Enterprise Connect, new ECM technology from Open Text, which leverages integrations with major enterprise systems, including SAP solutions, to deliver content to users through Microsoft Office 2003. The solution also provides lifecycle management, auditing, archiving, and corporate governance and regulatory compliance capabilities for customer-related information--including associated email. Users can access documents using, for example, customer numbers used in SAP solutions and other sources. Documents are used and stored in business context, while staying within the Microsoft environment. Information access can be tied to a formal process or driven by spontaneous need.

Open Text Corporation has also announced that it is enhancing its Internal Controls solution by integrating advanced reporting, dashboard, and analytics capabilities acquired from Hummingbird. The expanded solution is designed to help customers gain insight into their compliance programs for regulations such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and Basel II Capital Accord, among others. In addition to its Internal Controls solution, Open Text also said the query and reporting capabilities will be integrated with Open Text's other compliance solutions. With the addition of the advanced reporting and dashboard capabilities, Livelink ECM--Internal Controls customers can evaluate data across the entire business process. The new capabilities will give executives access to data from multiple systems and organize and analyze the information. Users can proactively alert management to potential problems and deliver daily, real-time reporting to stakeholders. Other key features include: the inclusion of standard reports; multi-dimensional reporting for more reliable results; report upon Internal Controls metrics, information from other Open Text compliance solutions, and third party applications; scheduled reports that can be automatically saved to Livelink ECM or sent to Livelink ECM users via email; and connections to third-party databases and applications for reporting on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
