Open Text Corporation, a provider of enterprise content management (ECM) software and solutions, has integrated Open Text LegalKEY Records Management with Symantec Enterprise Vault, designed to give law firms a complete email management solution for capturing and archiving emails as official records to meet internal policies and compliance requirements. The integration between LegalKEY and Enterprise Vault extends LegalKEY's matter-centric approach to encompass email flowing through Microsoft Exchange servers as well as email stored in archives. This is designed to allow users to search for items associated with a particular matter and get all relevant items back, including emails stored in multiple repositories.

The interface for LegalKEY Records Management is incorporated into Microsoft Outlook. Through the integration between LegalKEY and Enterprise Vault, all metadata associated with an email, such as client or case number, is retained and fully searchable. Symantec Enterprise Vault is an email and document solution in the legal industry that provides a software-based, archiving platform that stores, manages, and enables discovery of corporate data from email systems, file server environments, instant messaging platforms, and content management and collaboration systems.

Open Text Corporation has also partnered with Sun Microsystems to develop an email management solution capable of archiving and managing billions of emails per year. In tests, the solution demonstrated that it can handle the indexing, monitoring, and archiving of up to seven million emails per day, or more than two billion emails per year. The joint solution consists of Livelink ECM--Email Monitoring for Microsoft Exchange or Livelink ECM--Email Monitoring for Lotus Notes, Sun Fire x64 (x86, 64-bit) and UltraSPARC-based servers with the Solaris Operating System (OS).
