Objective Systems Inc., a developer of software that supports open communications standards, has released version 1.4 of XBinder. An XML data binding application, XBinder helps developers who use XML schema in messaging applications, which includes web services. Similar to Java and .NET web services toolkits, XBinder instead uses C and C++ programming languages. The tool allows rapid development of interfaces for XML and SOA applications. The most notable feature is the improved derived type handling along with the capability to handle the xsi:type attribute. Other new features included in this version: Support for XML canonicalization (C14N); Preliminary support added for Efficient XML Interchange (EXI); and Improved support for WSDL/SOAP.
