BEST PRACTICES SERIES

Near-Time, Inc. has added enhanced roles and permissions functionality to its hosted collaboration platform. The roles and permissions feature allows four access levels, giving each the ability to perform different functions. The Editor level can create Wiki and blog pages and edit any content on the platform; the Author level can author pages and edit its own content; the Commenter level is only able to comment on any page; and the Reader level is only able to view content on the platform.

Near-Time is built on web 2.0 technologies and integrates blogs, wikis, and group calendars. It combines the non-linear, ad hoc collaboration of wikis with blogs. Near-Time has made available enhancements that enable organizations to connect their Near-Time space to web services, including Technorati, Del.icio.us, and Digg. These services enable Near-Time users to create outreach to the web itself within their collaborative environment. These services are available to users of all Near-Time plans.
