NTT DoCoMo to Acquire Additional Shares in ACCESS Co., Ltd.; NTT Com to Acquire All Shares in DreamNet Corporation

NTT DoCoMo, Inc. has announced that the company will acquire additional shares in ACCESS Co., Ltd., which is increasing its capital by offering new shares to third parties. Following initial investment in ACCESS in January 2000, DoCoMo currently has 360 shares in the company. With the purchase of an additional 1,400 shares at 1.17 million yen per share, totaling 1.638 billion yen, DoCoMo will hold 1,760 shares in ACCESS, raising its ownership percentage from 2.13% to 9.61%. Established in February 1984, ACCESS develops and sells internet-related software. Through additional investment, DoCoMo expects to strengthen its ties with ACCESS, benefiting from the company's technological expertise in the development and application of browsers for third-generation mobile phones. The two companies signed a licensing agreement under which ACCESS will license to DoCoMo the browser it originally designed for DoCoMo's 3G handsets.

NTT Com, NTT Data Corporation, and NTT DoCoMo, Inc. have also announced that NTT Com will acquire all shares in the Internet service provider (ISP) DreamNet Corporation, currently owned by NTT Data and NTT DoCoMo, on January 23, 2003. Established in April 1994 with a capital of 550 million yen, DreamNet offers a variety of Internet services, including access, server rental, information, and related support. The company posted sales of 6.2 billion yen in fiscal 2001. Currently, NTT Data holds a 60% stake in DreamNet, with NTT DoCoMo owning 40%. The buyout is part of the NTT Group's 3-year business plan to gradually integrate ISP operations in order to meet market needs for broadband Internet services that offer wide-ranging applications and content at reasonable rates. Following the acquisition, NTT Com will integrate DreamNet with its OCN ISP business, uniting facilities and backyard operations. The combined synergy of the two operations will enable NTT Com to strengthen its position as an ISP, as well as offer value-added content applications.
