Mobius and Network Appliance Speed Data Access and Content Management

Mobius Management Systems, Inc., a provider of software for total content management (TCM), and Network Appliance, Inc., a provider of advanced networked storage solutions for data-intensive enterprise, have announced integration of Mobius ViewDirect TCM software with NetApp NearStore disk-based nearline storage systems. The new collaboration is designed to deliver a high-performance solution that simplifies the archiving, recall, and management of content from any source, on platforms including UNIX, Windows, Linux, and mainframe z/OS.

The integrated solution is designed to address customer challenges of managing growing volumes of diverse content while satisfying the need for rapid retrieval and high availability. Together, the Mobius ViewDirect TCM suite and NetApp NearStore are intended to offer a long-term content management and storage solution that enables customers to improve customer service, minimize risk exposure, eliminate isolated content silos, and protect against data loss. ViewDirect TCM integrates enterprise content in a single, consolidated repository or through access to multiple, disparate repositories, and includes a suite of content-centric applications that enable regulatory compliance and automate business processes.

NearStore combines the Data ONTAP operating system with ATA disk drives for near-primary storage performance. The solution scales from 8TB to 96TB with one NearStore system, while multiple NearStore systems provide petabytes of storage at near-tape costs to support growing content stores. The combined solution of NearStore with ViewDirect TCM addresses requirements for regulatory compliance with Mobius modules for records management, email archiving, and audit and balancing, and NetApp SnapLock non-erasable storage option to provide the proper retention, accuracy, integrity, and security of data. NetApp advanced data protection features protect against data loss and NetApp SnapMirror replication enables rapid disaster recovery, maximizing data availability.
