MindMetre: Tech, Media Firms Worst at Finding, Using Content

Organizations operating in the sectors that rely most heavily on enterprise information are among the worst at enabling access to internal content and utilizing it, according to the Industry Information Index, a new study from MindMetre Research, part of the Lindsell Marketing Group, and sponsored by Smartlogic Semaphore Ltd.

Overall, the Index demonstrates that information efficiency in every sector is fundamentally unsatisfactory, with no industry scoring above 50% -- that is, fewer than half of the organizations surveyed rated their sector as capable across four categories of effectiveness: enterprise search effectiveness; information categorization effectiveness; fragmentation of information systems; and categorization and search progress and investment. The total score for all sectors was 38%.

Media & Publishing placed at the bottom of the Index table with only 30% of respondents from this sector finding its efficiency to be satisfactory, putting it just below High-tech & IT and Aerospace. Information & Research, Banking, Property & Construction, and Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals also were in the lower half of the Index table.
