Microsoft has launched a new social networking site called So.cl, which is designed to combine social networking and search, according to ReadWriteWeb. Initially targeted at students, So.cl allows users to research a topic and then share what they think are the best pieces of information on that topic on their page.

Another key feature is the ability to create a video play list, called Video Party, and allowing other connected users to chat on the screen. One of the biggest complaints about the new social media site is that it is not mobile, so in order to use So.Cl, users will have to be on a PC.
