Microsoft Corp. announced the signing of a cross-license agreement with Amazon.com. Under the terms of the agreement, the two companies will provide each other with access to its respective patent portfolio, covering a broad range of technologies and devices. Specifically included in the deal are Amazon's Kindle and a line of Amazon's Linux-based server platforms.
Amazon.com will also reportedly pay Microsoft an undisclosed sum of money under the agreement. Microsoft has in recent years entered into similar agreements with other companies, including Apple, HP, LG Electronics, Nikon, Novell, and Samsung.
