Microsoft Corp. has announced it will acquire aQuantive Inc., a global digital marketing company, for $66.50 per share in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $6 billion. The aQuantive acquisition is designed to enable Microsoft to strengthen relationships with advertisers, agencies, and publishers by enhancing the Company’s advertising platforms and services beyond its current capabilities to serve MSN. The acquisition also provides Microsoft increased depth in building and supporting advertising solutions and environments such as cross media planning, video-on-demand, and IPTV. The deal is expected to be completed in the first half of Microsoft’s fiscal year 2008. aQuantive, which has approximately 2,600 employees, will continue to operate from its Seattle headquarters as part of Microsoft’s Online Services Business.
CommonTime, a company for extending lBM Lotus Notes to smartphones and PDA, has announced that Windows Mobile 6, through its mSuite software, will support IBM Lotus Notes functionality. mSuite brings advanced Lotus Notes messaging with Lotus-centric functions and operations to Windows-focused devices. Features such as Lotus Sametime instant messaging and 'free time search', which are normally confined to the world of Lotus Notes, will be available in the Windows environment of a smartphone or PDA.
