Tacoda Systems has announced that Media General, Inc., whose publishing assets include The Tampa Tribune, the Richmond Times-Dispatch, and the Winston-Salem Journal, will install Tacoda's Audience Management System (AMS) on 17 of its Web sites in three states. Media General is an independent, publicly owned communications company situated primarily in the Southeast with interests in newspapers, television stations, interactive media, and diversified information services. AMS will initially be deployed on newspaper and broadcast Web sites including: Winston-Salem Journal, Independent Tribune, Hickory Daily Record, Statesville Record & Landmark, The News Herald, The McDowell News, The Mooresville Tribune, Richmond Times-Dispatch, Charlottesville Daily Progress, Potomac News, Manassas Journal-Messenger, Culpeper Star-Exponent, TBO, The Tampa Tribune, Highlands Today, Hernando Today, and WFLA-TV (Tampa, FL). With Tacoda System's Audience Management System, publishers can harvest data across their entire enterprise and merge/purge it so that information on separate users can be collected into individual profiles. These audience profiles each contain demographic data, such as zip, age, and gender, and audience site behavior, such as frequency of visits or the propensity to click on ad banners. Publishers can then group together users with similar demographic and/or behavioral characteristics into audience segments.
