MarketWatch.com, Inc., a provider of business news, financial information, and analytical tools, has changed its corporate name to MarketWatch, Inc., dropping the dot com. The change in the company's name was approved at the company's annual stockholders' meeting on Wednesday, August 4th. The company has obtained trademark protection for "MarketWatch" in the U.S. and abroad.
Earlier this spring, MarketWatch also announced its partnership with Thomson Financial, which will increase the size of the MarketWatch editorial staff and provide real-time market, industry, and U.S. company news to the institutional users of Thomson terminals. In January, MarketWatch completed its acquisition of Pinnacor Inc, a provider of online business news and financial applications to banking, brokerage, and media companies. That company is now part of MarketWatch's content licensing business, CBS MarketWatch Information Services.
