MarketWatch.com Hires News Talent for Thomson Financial Partnership MarketWatch.com, Inc., a provider of business news, financial information, and analytical tools, has announced the first wave of editorial hires related to the company's forthcoming launch of the MarketWatch institutional news service for customers of Thomson Financial, an operating unit of The Thomson, and provider of information and technology solutions to the financial community. Initially announced in April, the news service is intended to bring together MarketWatch's news coverage by financial journalists and Thomson Financial's proprietary content, market analytics, and market expertise to create a service focused on real-time market, industry, and U.S. company news. The Thomson Financial news service will be available exclusively to Thomson ONE customers as well as to clients of Thomson affiliates. The 16 new journalists include senior editors and reporters from financial news organizations on Wall Street, including Reuters, Dow Jones, Bloomberg, AFX, and the former Bridge News, among others. In addition to working on the Thomson Financial venture, the group will also contribute to and expand coverage on the company's flagship Web site, cbs.marketwatch.com.

Lisa Twaronite, who joined as Asia bureau chief, based in Tokyo. Kathie O'Donnell, who is a Boston-based reporter on the financial services team. Having worked for both Bloomberg and Reuters, O'Donnell is expanding CBS MarketWatch's coverage of banks and mutual-fund companies. Kate Gibson, who resumed her coverage of Chicago 's trading floors for CBS MarketWatch after having done the same for the OsterDowJones commodities newswire. Anthony Lazarus, joined CBS MarketWatch's San Francisco bureau. Chris Noble, who joined CBS MarketWatch in San Francisco covering the markets after a decade of writing for Reuters in New York, Boston, and Paris. Alistair Barr, who wrote about the markets for Bloomberg for the past five years in London and also did radio and TV reports for Bloomberg. Barr is covering financial services in CBS MarketWatch's San Francisco bureau. Michael Paige is covering technology out of CBS MarketWatch's Los Angeles bureau. Val Kennedy, who joined CBS MarketWatch in Boston to cover the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, returning to the beat she previously covered for Bridge News and the Boston Business Journal. Jackie Cohen is one of five people on a desk that will be dedicated to using Thomson's data resources to report stories. Dan Gallagher, who until recently was an editor and reporter at the East Bay Business Times, will be on the team reporting news using Thomson's data. John Spence, who has been writing about exchange-traded funds and other investments as a freelancer for CBS MarketWatch now joins as a full-time journalist in the Boston bureau. Padraic Cassidy joined CBS MarketWatch's New York bureau as a reporter covering industrial companies. Brendan January, who joined the markets-news team in New York from The Philadelphia Inquirer. Carla Mozee, who joined the real-time Flash News Desk in San Francisco after internships at Reuters and Dow Jones. Heather Wilson, who joined the real-time Flash News Desk in San Francisco after her recent graduation from the masters program in journalism at the University of Southern California.
