Mapsolute Announces Free Map24 AJAX API; Re-Launches Site

Jun 13, 2006

Mapsolute Inc., an Internet mapping provider and creator of "Map24", has announced it is offering a free Map24 (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) AJAX API to integrate advanced mapping technology into websites. Mapsolute has also launched an extensive developer network that provides detailed information on the AJAX API including manuals, tutorials, API documentation, source codes, and FAQs. The network also includes information on interfaces such as Map24 web services and a discussion forum.

The Map24 AJAX API lets developers add maps to their websites using HTML and JavaScript. Key features of Map24 AJAX, include: a reduction in development time; it does not require additional server software to be installed; only necessary data is transferred when a web page is refreshed and static page content is not transferred over and over again. The Map24 AJAX API is downloaded only one time and then cached by the browser. If a new version of the API becomes available, a small patch is downloaded automatically. The patch updates the Map24 AJAX API in the browser's cache; Map24 interactive maps rely on vector map streaming technology MapTPT, providing vector data compression and incremental updates; and Dynamic Maps, where the MapTP interfaces allow developers to create and change customer layers dynamically.

Mapsolute also provides customizable HTML-Tooltips for developers, providing predefined palettes of HTML-Tooltip layouts including forms, tables, pictures, and links. Users can integrate all HTML-Objects and their content without additional actions. The Map24 AJAX API is available for free by registering at the website.

Mapsolute has also announced that it has re-launched its site with a new look and search facility. is a free online mapmaking tool that provides individuals and businesses on-line maps and door-to-door directions. The re-launch of the new website brings the European based Map24 brand to North America with maps and detailed driving directions. New features on the Map24 website include a powerful single line entry search facility that can conduct searches even with misspelled words and partial addresses. Map24 users do not need to enter addresses into different fields. Address details, such as zip code, town and city can be entered into a single address field in any order. When the search is executed, Map24 lists the possible addresses, so that users can select the appropriate one. Once the desired address is selected, it is shown on the map and can be used as a starting point or destination for route planning. Another feature is that specific Points of Interest (POI) such as tourist attractions or hotels can be found by typing in the name.

An additional feature offers a 3D mode that does not require the user to know what direction (North, South, East or West) that he is headed in. Users engage the 3D mode--either with a bird's eye or street level view and the 3D route flight follows the route along the road, while keeping the map orientated to the user's direction of travel.
