Lycos, Inc., a provider of search, community, and technology lifestyle destinations, has announced the appointment of two executives to the Lycos senior management team.

Dan Sullivan rejoined Lycos this month as the new SVP and general counsel, where he oversees all legal responsibilities for the organization, including litigation, antitrust matters and legal policies regarding day-to-day operations. Sullivan brings more than 15 years of corporate legal experience working as senior counsel in the areas of mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures. He returns to Lycos following his most recent venture as principal at Northstar Global Partners.

Sullivan served as vice president, senior corporate counsel at Lycos from May 1998 through July 2004, during which time he structured, negotiated and drafted agreements for 20 of Lycos' merger and acquisition transactions ranging in size from $30 million to several billion dollars. He was lead counsel for two of Lycos' U.S. public offerings, as well as one in Europe. He negotiated equity investments by Lycos and its affiliates in more than 30 startup transactions, and was the lead counsel for the creation of a $75 million venture fund that invested in Internet-related activities.

Brian Kalinowski rejoined Lycos in May 2005 as the COO, overseeing the Wired News and Quote properties and driving new opportunities for broadband and content offerings. Kalinowski also optimizes business opportunities for Tripod and Angelfire, the Web publishing community sites within the Lycos Network. Originally with Lycos from 1997 through 2000, Kalinowski served as general manager for the Lycos Entertainment group and director of the Multimedia Services team responsible for strategic planning, development and go-to-market activities. He was responsible for the development and launch of Lycos MP3 search, Lycos Multimedia search, Lycos Radio and Lycos TV. Prior to rejoining Lycos, Mr. Kalinowski was vice-president of Ziggs, Inc. (formerly Officenet, Inc.), where he managed product development.
