LinkedIn Groups Gets a Facelift, New Features

Jun 24, 2010

LinkedIn added several new features and a new interface to its LinkedIn groups, marking the first major update to that aspect of the service since it was rolled out in 2008. In addition to the interface redesign, features include improved browsing, and more intuitive discussion organization.

LinkedIn Groups is also leveraging the notion of "following" to make it easier to receive email updates from select group members; you can set up persistent alerts when selected members make a contribution within the group. Additionally, the new group interface highlights users who "add the most value to the group each week" encouraging the discovery of participants among members. The designation is given not only to those who contribute most, but also to those whose contributions stimulate the most participation from other members. Additional upgrades are planned for the Groups platform in the coming weeks, as well.
