LexisNexis SmartLinx Enhanced With Visual Link Discovery Technology

Mar 18, 2003

LexisNexis, a provider of information to legal, corporate, government, and academic customers, has enhanced its LexisNexis SmartLinx public records link discovery application with the anacubis visualization technology from i2, Inc, for the law enforcement market. i2's visualization technology enables SmartLinx users to generate a picture of connections between people, places, assets, and locations; revealing relationships that may not be readily apparent within raw data. SmartLinx can now depict entities such as people and organizations as icons and relationships between those entities are represented as links. Clicking within a SmartLinx summary opens a link view, revealing connections between the target of the search and any assets, addresses, business links, associated entities, liens, and judgments or any other related data generated within SmartLinx. Once the link view is generated, users can manipulate the icons to expand relationships, show source documents, or filter out unnecessary information. Law enforcement users can also access additional SmartLinx reports on the associated entities. LexisNexis SmartLinx uses linking technology to dissect and analyze 1.9 billion documents from 1636 sources and link related names, addresses, phone numbers, and other information to appropriate people, businesses, and locations.  The SmartLinx reports allows the investigator to link to original source documents and associated entities. The i2 visualization technology in SmartLinx is designed to address the needs of investigators and analysts across a wide range of industries in addition to law enforcement, such as insurance, financial services, military and intelligence services, personnel management, entertainment, media, retail, and immigration control. Some features of the anacubis-enhanced SmartLinx include: one click converts the data from a SmartLinx summary into a link view; the ability to move components in a chart; access to link data with mouse hovering; access to SmartLinx reports on associated entities; and drag-and-drop capability for users of i2's Analyst's Notebook 6.
