LexisNexis Canada, a provider of information and services solutions, has announced a new version of the LexisNexis Quicklaw online legal research service. The new version of the Quicklaw service is designed to make the research process more flexible and more precise.

The new Quicklaw will be available via the LexisNexis global technology platform. LexisNexis announced the platform in 2003 and has introduced local adaptations to customers in several countries. The platform brings advanced features and functionality and will provide opportunities to subscribe to collections of international sources. The enhanced Quicklaw product was designed to make research results more relevant and more complete. The updated service will provide access to collections of court and administrative tribunal decisions, legislation, exclusive current awareness services, legal texts, journals, and articles. Research tasks on Quicklaw range from identifying case law to support a legal position, to understanding the law or legal procedures in a particular jurisdiction, to keeping abreast of emerging legal issues in a particular area of law, to collecting background information for factual discovery.

LexisNexis has also announced that it has signed an exclusive deal with FactSet Research Systems Inc., a provider of financial intelligence to the business community. Under the terms of the deal, LexisNexis will integrate FactSet content within its LexisNexis Market Intelligence tool and on its flagship LexisNexis research systems. FactSet's transaction data supports investment banking, management consulting, and professional services customers in identifying new opportunities and conducting quantitative analysis. Users will be able to access regularly updated information on publicly announced mergers, acquisitions, asset sales and divestitures involving both public and private companies, the adoption of key anti-takeover devices such as poison pills, as well as initial public offering (IPO) and secondary offering data on US companies. The new product offering will be released in the summer of 2006.
