BEST PRACTICES SERIES

KnowNow Inc., a provider of event-driven integration solutions, and Syndic8, a directory of syndicated news feeds, have announced a strategic relationship that will deliver live RSS updates to Syndic8's user base. Under the terms of the agreement, Syndic8 has licensed the KnowNow 3 Web Syndication Solution with SpeedReader, a Web-based, event-driven RSS aggregator.

Syndic8 offers a directory of syndicated news feeds and catalogs sources of syndicated news feeds in 47 different languages--from Afrikans to Welch--representing the collaborative efforts of participants worldwide. Syndic8's searchable subject index allows visitors to find news feeds fitting their topic of interest and to read the most recent headlines from each source.

KnowNow 3 Web Syndication Solution with SpeedReader provides live, continuously updated RSS feeds—which KnowNow calls ‘channels'—without the need to install software. It also comes with a branded RSS reader called SpeedReader that launches directly from a Web page. Unlike typical RSS readers that periodically check feeds for updates and then store them on the user's local disk drive, SpeedReader continuously monitors feeds for new information and delivers it immediately. Also, multiple channels can be made active so that the headlines flow together into the preview pane as they are updated. Other KnowNow 3 Web Syndication Solution with SpeedReader features include pre-set channels and support for anonymous and logged-in users.
