eMeta Corporation, a provider of digital information access and commerce solutions, has announced that Knight Ridder Digital is using eMeta's eRights Suite to support the registration initiatives at many of its online newspaper properties. Examples include: Philly.com, the online home of both The Philadelphia Daily News and The Philadelphia Inquirer, Herald.com, the online home of The Miami Herald, and MercuryNews.com, the online home of The San Jose Mercury News. The eRights Suite is an open infrastructure software solution that facilitates the access control and sale of digital content and services, and gives publishers tools to customize their offers to readers. In addition to facilitating registration, segmentation, and customization of content and data, eRights is designed to enable a variety of online commerce transaction types including free product trials, recurring billing, and micropayments.
