Kaltura Announces MediaX Cloud DVR Solution

Sep 08, 2015

Kaltura, a video technology provider, announced the launch of Kaltura MediaX including its flexible cloud DVR solution. Part of its OTT TV offering, according to Kaltura, MediaX is designed to enable pay-TV operators, content providers and broadcasters to quickly launch advanced cloud DVR services with the industry's broadest selection of monetization features. In addition to the cloud DVR solution, Kaltura MediaX will also provide customers with tools for content discovery and accessibility.

Revenue generating options include allowing subscribers to increase their cloud DVR quota; add new users or devices per household; upgrade from catch-up to cloud DVR; connect recordings to existing social media features; the long-term storage of catch-up items and recordings and many others.

Kaltura says cloud DVR is a flexible, scalable solution that allows customers to launch cloud services quickly and enjoy the efficiencies of a cloud-based model. Customers will be going live with cloud DVR services over the next few months. Kaltura's modular architecture allows customers to launch cloud DVR services that are pre-integrated with other Kaltura OTT TV modules, such as MediaHub and MediaStore, or with Kaltura partners' third party backend, storage and playout offerings.

When existing Kaltura customers deploy the cloud DVR solution, they can extend their OTT TV personalization features, content discovery, monetization rules, and household management logic across the cloud DVR service.
