Janrain Launches Customer-centric Consent Lifecycle Management

Janrain, a company that pioneered the Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) category, announced a new offering that allows global brands to provide their customers with fine-grained control and management of their data in order to comply with the future European Union (EU) General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements, and similar consent requirements from other regulations such as the EU’s Payment Services Directive (PSD2) and Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). It is the first such offering to be made available by a CIAM provider.

Janrain Consent Lifecycle Management helps brands adhere to GDPR guidelines through progressive, context-based consent collection. In addition to granularly adhering to end-user preferences for data collection and management, Consent Lifecycle Management provides customers of Janrain’s clients with the option to go back to their consent declarations at any time for review, validation, revocation, or other changes, and to download a PDF that documents exactly how their data is being managed. Not only does this feature enable data subjects to meaningfully control their data, Janrain clients can enhance scoped access with customer choice and ensure that other data processors in their environment respect customer consent choices. Such consent and transparency will be required of any organization that collects or accesses personal data of individuals residing in the EU. Failure to comply with GDPR, which goes into effect May 25, 2018, will lead to heavy fines–up to a maximum of 20 million EUR or 4% annual global revenue of the preceding financial year, whichever is higher.

Janrain recently began offering a GDPR Primer and Readiness Assessment to help clients ensure they’re prepared for the new regulation. With the Janrain team’s guidance, clients can discover gaps in their data management policies, procedures and processes as well as receive remediation plans for authentication, registration, security and overall management of identity related processes, technologies and data.
