Ingram and O’Reilly Create On Demand Publishing Model

Ingram Content Group, Inc. and O'Reilly Media partnered to come up with an inventory management initiative integrating O'Reilly's content with Ingram's print, distribution, and inventory management models. The new program uses real-time consumer demand, retail inventory requirements, and demand forecasting to enable O'Reilly to shift its traditional business model from inventory-based approach to an on-demand model.

Ingram's solution, which combines print on demand with its worldwide distribution network, allows O'Reilly to increase its title and channel availability while reducing its inventory, investing in content development, and increasing revision speed. Most importantly for O'Reilly, it can keep its most relevant content accessible to customers on the market in a cost-effective way. Ingram's services include traditional and digital book distribution, inventory management, and comprehensive printing services.
