Infodata Systems Inc., a provider of open solutions for enterprise content management (ECM), has announced the general availability of its new Infodata Annotation Suite 2.0 product, built from its AnnoDoc technology. Annotation Suite 2.0 aims to ensure the integrity of content as it relates to increasingly restrictive compliance mandates such as 21 CFR, Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPPA, DoD 5015.2, and others. Designed on an open and modular architecture, Annotation Suite 2.0 offers organizations the means to implement a single annotation technology across any content repository (ECMs, databases, or line of business applications) while providing individual businesses units control over their content review processes in a manner that ensures compliance.

Annotation Suite 2.0 specifically addresses the business processes around document reviews by allowing distributed teams of colleagues to review and comment (i.e., "annotate") documents in parallel. Annotations are stored separately to maintain the document's original source structure. All changes to annotations are tracked by a complete audit trail. The new Infodata Annotation Suite 2.0 product release adds to the AnnoDoc technology by providing further capabilities to: retain the versioning of annotations as a user updates their annotations; distinguish between annotation authors and annotation owners; retain the name, date, and time stamp of the originating external annotation author(s) as they are imported into the protected ECM environment; provide the ability to transfer ownership of annotations as users change roles within organizations or as part of the review process; consolidate annotations to re-assign primary authorship of annotations for more streamlined processing and final editing of controlled documents; and assign access control properties to annotation objects directly from the client interface.

Infodata Annotation Suite 2.0 is an open architecture and provides compatibility to environments including EMC/Documentum (4.x, 5.x, DCM 4 and 5, and numerous client types). Third party integrations also include Adobe Acrobat 5 and 6, and Liquent's PDFAqua 4 and 5. In addition, this release includes the integration to IBM's DB2 Content Manager for Multi-Platforms v8.2. Infodata is a provider of open, enterprise-class content management solutions. The company designs, develops, and implements solutions by means of the Content Management Services Layer ("CMSL") that delivers middleware-based applications to reduce the complexity of bringing content together with its associated business processes in order to foster compliancy and the secure management of content across its lifecycle.
