IBM has made a series of announcements including a partnership with AT&T to offer a collaboration solution, plans to introduce a new solution bundle to deliver collaborative capabilities to small- to medium-sized businesses (SMBs), and the unveiling of three new additions to its IBM Workplace Solutions portfolio.

IBM and AT&T have announced that they will jointly offer a packaged team collaboration solution that will make it easier for small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to buy and deploy collaboration software with integrated Internet access capabilities. The new package, IBM Workplace Services Express with AT&T Managed Internet Service, will be based on IBM's Workplace Services Express, an out of the box collaboration solution with an integrated portal, and AT&T Managed Internet Service for secure, dedicated, high-speed Internet access. Workplace Services Express provides team rooms, instant messaging, document management, and an integrated portal so that SMBs will be able to share, organize, and integrate information with employees, contractors, and partners. Bundling Workplace Services Express with AT&T Managed Internet Service provides SMBs with a way to build a collaborative, Internet-ready solution for their organization without investing significant time or IT resources. IBM Workplace Services Express with AT&T Managed Internet Service installs on a single IBM xSeries eServer. Backed by AT&T's Internet access service, the bundle supports both Windows or Linux-based servers as well as Windows or Linux browser-based clients. The bundle is currently in pilot stage and will ultimately be available through local IBM Business Partners and AT&T Authorized Agents.

IBM has also announced plans to introduce a new solution bundle designed to deliver superior collaborative capabilities to small- to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in a single, reliable, integrated package. The solution will make IBM Workplace Services Express, an out of the box collaboration solution with an integrated portal designed for the SMB market, available on the IBM eServer iSeries hardware, a midrange server solution. IBM Workplace Services Express on the iSeries will be sold through IBM's business partner network. By packaging IBM Workplace Services Express on the iSeries platform, IBM is extending its portfolio of solutions that are designed to make it easier and less costly for small-and medium-businesses to purchase, deploy, and manage software and hardware. IBM Workplace Services Express, one of the latest additions to the IBM Workplace family of products, is designed for small and mid-sized organizations, and departments in large enterprises. IBM Workplace Services Express on the iSeries platform will enable on-line work areas for team collaboration on documents and projects, instant messaging capabilities, and an integrated portal that links to a company's other business applications. The iSeries/IBM Workplace Services Express integrated offering is expected to be available later this year. Availability, costs, platform support and specific entitlement details will be ready upon general availability.

IBM has unveiled three new additions to its IBM Workplace Solutions portfolio. IBM is delivering new deployment options for its IBM Workplace Solutions, specifically Small and Medium Business options for IBM Workplace for Healthcare Clinicians and IBM Workplace for Retail Store Operations. In addition, the IBM Workplace Solutions Catalog is now available as an on-line resource that provides IBM customers and business partners with access to the technologies and information they need to build role-based solutions.

The deployment for solutions is based primarily on IBM Workplace Services Express, a new team collaboration solution with an integrated portal, designed to make it easy for colleagues to work together, by providing work spaces to create, edit, and share documents. IBM currently offers Workplace Solutions for 18 vertical industries, including retail, manufacturing, finance, telecommunications, government, healthcare, and automotive and over 30 individual job functions and employee roles. These two new deployment options expand the IBM Workplace Solutions portfolio and give System Integrators industry-specific "blueprints" on how to assemble work environments optimized for businesses of all sizes, with Workplace Services Express.

The IBM Workplace Solutions Catalog is designed as an on-line guide to help customers search, access, and use the right technology from IBM--or an IBM Business Partner--to implement technology solutions that meet the specific needs of their organization or industry. The IBM Workplace Solutions Catalog provides a repository for the tools, technologies, resources, templates, and portlets available to build and deploy on the IBM Workplace family of products specific to an individual customer needs.
