IBM Integrates Enigma Technology into Auto Dealer Collaboration Portal

Enigma Inc., a provider of aftermarket service and support technology, and IBM, an information technology company, have announced that IBM has integrated the Enigma 3C Platform into its Automotive Dealer Collaboration offering. Enigma and IBM are strategic alliance partners and will jointly market the solution to automotive OEMs. IBM's Automotive Dealer Collaboration offering, with Enigma's portlets, is designed to strengthen post-sales relationships between OEMs and dealers by automating communications and providing vital service and repair information.

Enigma provides mechanics with a dynamic product encyclopedia, consisting of integrated service information and parts catalogs, which will be delivered using portlets developed on IBM WebSphere Portal technology. The portlets, and the Enigma 3C Platform, will become a part of IBM's Automotive Dealer Collaboration offering. Enigma's four new portlets are intended to enable organizations using the IBM Dealer Collaboration Portal to easily search, filter, and display parts and service information. They are: Table of Contents Portlet, Search Portlet, Filtering Portlet, and Document & Catalog Portlet. The Enigma 3C Table of Contents Portlet provides an integrated and synchronized table of contents navigational tool that links users to related information. The table of contents is dynamically rendered to reflect the current configuration of the equipment being serviced. The Enigma 3C Search Portlet is designed to deliver search and retrieval capabilities beyond full-text search, to provide a well-defined set of search results. The Enigma 3C Filtering Portlet filters information based on product configuration by using complex serial numbers, like an automotive Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), to further ensure that technicians are presented with relevant information. The Enigma 3C Document & Catalog Portlet provides mechanics with a combined view of the latest service information and illustrated parts catalogs, giving users the ability to order parts directly from the portlet using IBM WebSphere Commerce Suite.
