The latest version of IBM's business analytics platform, Mashup, was released, along with a desktop API and an updated list of high-profile clients finding success with the offering. The API, named IBM Cognos 8 Mashup, allows companies to integrate Mashup functionality into existing business processes, streamlining the flow of operational data into a platform for informed business decisions. Among the clients now using IBM's mashup services are the New York State Department of Labor, Wells Fargo, and Kent County.

In related news, IBM debuted a series of new software offerings to help manage business content. IBM Cognos Content Analytics offers organizations the ability to discover and refine insights through content analysis and trend identification, while IBM InfoSphere Content Assessment helps companies assess unmanaged content to identify high-risk content such as corporate records.

IBM also announced a partnership to provide archival technology and strategies to SNCF, France's national railway. IBM indicated that its system would help manage and track transactional ticketing information, invoices, and other financial documents for SNCF, which serves some 63 million citizens in both France and neighboring European countries.
