Vignette Corp. has announced an expansion of its existing strategic alliance with IBM Corp. to include solutions that will help companies better manage the content of their corporate intranets. Under terms of the expanded agreement, Vignette has become the first certified Web content management business partner for IBM's Dynamic Workplaces initiative. The new initiative is designed to offer a broad set of intranet-based collaborative technologies, such as emeetings, elearning, eHR, and instant messaging, that can help companies reduce costs and make employees more flexible. As a part of this announcement, Vignette is debuting Vignette for IBM Dynamic Workplaces, a configuration of its content management application that is linked with IBM's Dynamic Workplaces offering. Vignette will also offer integration with IBM's Content Management software in the fourth quarter of this year. Earlier this year, Vignette announced plans to ship support for IBM Content Manager Version 8, a content repository that builds on IBM's heritage of helping companies store large amounts of unstructured information, in the fourth quarter. The combined solution leverages Vignette's strength in managing and delivering content with IBM's content repository services. Since the alliance's inception in the second half of 2000, Vignette and IBM have jointly deployed enterprise-wide solutions for many Fortune 1,000 companies and public sector organizations such as Adventist Health, the State of Michigan, the State of New Mexico, IBM, Nissan North America Inc., Texas A&M University, the Union Bank of California NA, U.S. Mint, and the Online Wall Street Journal.
