TheHuffingtonPost.com, Inc. has partnered with Spain's national daily newspaper El País, part of Ediciones El País, SL, to produce a Spanish-language local edition, El Huffington Post. The deal closed last Thursday.
The Spanish edition will be based out of El País' offices and there is a team of translators being hired to translate across the three languages to help syndicate content. It is not certain whether El HuffPost will include more North American content on local Spanish sites, more international coverage in the U.S. edition, or a combination of the two.
El Huffington Post will follow the template for the not-yet-live French edition, Le Huffington Post, in which HuffPost partnered with daily newspaper publisher La Vie-Le Monde Group as well as Les Nouvelles Editions Indépendante. The Huffington Post is also reportedly looking to launch a French Canadian edition. An English-language Canadian edition already exists.
