Hitachi has announced that its Central Research Laboratory has developed a P2P communications technology for telecom providers and enterprises. The new P2P technology is designed to provide an environment for secure data sharing over IPv6 networks, enabling users to safely share large volume files, exchange instant messages, and establish real-time voice communications. The technology is also intended to allow cellphone and PDA users to access digital image data, since it uses a gateway server that processes P2P communications for the mobile devices.
