Facebook has partnered with HTC Corp. to build a smartphone that has the social network deeply integrated to its services, according to AllThingsD. The phone has been reportedly code-named "Buffy," after the television vampire slayer, and will run on a modified version of Android and support HTML5 as a platform for its applications. It could be 12 to 18 months before Buffy enters the market.
Facebook is one of the most popular apps on nearly every phone for which it is available. Several companies have developed phones with a dedicated Facebook button, including HTC. Facebook has 350 million active mobile users, 800 million on the site itself, and relationships with 475 global mobile operators.
