Growth Predicted for Digital Publishing

A study conducted by Oliver Wyman for Next Issue Media, using Wyman's Future Marketplace Simulation platform, predicted the potential for $3 billion in revenue for interactive, digital publishing products in the U.S. newspaper and magazine industry by 2014. The study surveyed 1,800 U.S. customers, analyzing expected demand across nearly 230 periodicals. The results of Wyman's study are consistent with documented trends in the marketplace, the most prevalent of which is the emergence of color, touchscreen devices, such as Apple's iPad, that allow for a more interactive e-reading experience.
