BEST PRACTICES SERIES

GigaSpaces will leverage Citrix OpenCloud to provide an open, scalable platform that allows users to develop enterprise cloud applications. With the platform-as-a-service (PaaS) offering, developers can create and scale applications using any hypervisor, development language, and runtime, benefiting businesses in their existing investments. The solution, which is built on OpenStack, offers users the advantages of openness, flexibility, integration, scalability, and SaaS-Enablement.

GigaSpaces joined the OpenStack Community, which aims to enable organizations to offer cloud computing services on existing, standard hardware, after it announced the integration of Citrix NetScaler and Citrix XenServer with GigaSpaces XAP in October 2010. The current collaboration will extend the flexibility of OpenStack to the application platform sector.

Reportedly, GigaSpaces will announce its first code contribution at the OpenStack Design Summit on April 26, 2011, in Santa Clara, California. Its integration with OpenStack will be available to the Java community via the JClouds project.
