Gale has added a feature to its suite of InfoTrac Web products that allows a direct search of journals. In addition, it has updated the corresponding Marc856 and ASCII record sets with InfoMarkstm to fully use the new table of contents display style that is part of this new functionality.

The feature, called journal search, is designed to offer searchers a faster route to detailed information for thousands of journals containing millions of articles from hundreds of different publishers. Using this feature, InfoTrac Web searchers have access to journal detail descriptions that include complete journal name, ISSN, publisher name, audience rating, format, index, and full-text coverage dates. The underlying table of contents display style provides searches with visual and immediate access to specific issues included in the journal they are searching.

Gale MARC856 and ASCII record sets may be downloaded for free. MARC records are loaded into the library catalog and the InfoMarks stored in the MARC records 856 field provides direct access to journal content in InfoTrac Web.
