Apr 28, 2011

Gale, part of Cengage Learning, debuted its Gale World Scholar line with Gale World Scholar: Latin America and the Caribbean. The product is the first in a new family of Gale World Scholar regional resources. Gale World Scholar combines historical and contemporary references with archival materials and information on current events in a context-intelligent manner. Gale World Scholar seeks to provide users with a comprehensive picture of a particular region of the world, including insight into daily life, culture, traditions, its inhabitants, and a detailed chronicle of both history and the present day.

Gale World Scholar includes content from a network of U.S. and foreign libraries and is designed for undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty in a variety of disciplines. The resource contains information relevant to area studies, history, political science, international relations, anthropology, and many other disciplines. Some of the highlights of the platform include archival material  such as monographs, maps, and pamphlets, collections of scholarly journals and other periodicals, multilingual documents, and interactive statistical modeling tools using data culled from more than 25 international organizations.
