Florida's Miami-Dade County has launched a new portal powered by Interwoven and IBM WebSphere, in an effort to provide residents access to critical information and services from more than 40 county agencies. Miami-Dade County encompasses 2,000 square miles and has a population of over two million.

The portal contains links that enable county residents to complete a variety of actions, including the payment of parking tickets, viewing their water bills, looking up property taxes, and more. County employees use Interwoven's content management platform to update their agencies' portion of the portal.

Originally launched as a pilot in 2001, the Miami-Dade portal, miamidade.gov, delivered information and services to the county's constituents. Having launched its portal, Miami-Dade is now looking to expand this model to all of the municipalities in the region, eventually giving any South Florida resident access to important services.
