FileNet Corporation, a provider of enterprise content and Business Process Management solutions, has expanded its relationship with HP to further align the strengths of FileNet's Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platform within HP's enterprise initiatives. FileNet has also announced an integrated solution with Hitachi Data Systems Corporation.

The announcement encompasses multiple solution areas, including: Information Lifecycle Management, Imaging Technology Integration, and HP Consulting & Integration. FileNet has become a member of HP's Information Lifecycle Management Alliance Program; Through this program, FileNet will extend its existing integration with HP storage technologies including HP's Reference Information Storage System (RISS) and will collaborate with HP on initiatives such as Information Lifecycle Management (ILM). As a member of FileNet's ValueNet Partner Program, HP has developed integration capabilities with FileNet Capture technology to enable digital communication with multi-function printers (MFP) and standalone digital senders. This integration allows digital send enabled devices to scan and import a document into the FileNet system as part of the document capture process. In addition, the integration allows FileNet and HP to develop and deliver an end-to-end solution that allows customers to convert paper documents to a digital format for automated processing and management. FileNet and HP plan to extend their existing regional consulting and integration relationship to offer enterprise content management (ECM) solutions targeted toward specific vertical markets worldwide. HP's ECM solutions are designed to address the particular business needs of each industry and to enable companies to effectively manage content-driven processes on a secure, flexible, and scalable infrastructure for improved responsiveness to changing business needs and customer requirements.

FileNet and Hitachi Data Systems Corporation, provider of Application Optimized Storage solutions and wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd., have announced an integrated solution designed to help customers preserve and protect sensitive enterprise information. This solution, based on Hitachi storage systems, integrates Hitachi Data Retention Utility software with the FileNet P8 Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platform release 3.5.

FileNet P8 is designed to enable companies to make better decisions faster by uniquely addressing their content and process needs, including managing content in and outside of FileNet repositories from a central, federated catalog. Together, FileNet and Hitachi Data Systems will provide solutions that include integration of FileNet's Content Manager, Email Manager, Records Manager and Image Manager with the Hitachi Data Retention Utility software. The Data Retention Utility provides Write-Once Read-Many (WORM) functionality for disk media across all tiers of Hitachi storage.

The new joint FileNet-Hitachi Data Systems solution is intended to help customers manage and store very large volumes of documents, including critical email and other business records on Hitachi's high performance storage area network (SAN)-based storage subsystems. In addition, this solution can address corporate governance and regulatory compliance directives including Sarbanes Oxley, SEC 17a-4, and HIPAA. The joint FileNet-Hitachi Data Systems solution is targeted for customer availability in Q3 of 2005.
